From the Head of Junior School

Term Two has begun extremely smoothly and it has been pleasing to note the positive attitude with which the boys have commenced. It would seem all have enjoyed a well-deserved break and have returned refreshed and ready for another busy term.

Next Monday, I will be presenting badges of office to Year Six boys who have been selected, or volunteered for various leadership positions. Whilst all Year Six boys are considered leaders of the school, the following boys will assume specific responsibilities around the school.

These boys will meet with Miss Carney and Mr Irvine next week to discuss issues raised by boys, and new representatives will be selected each term.

I will also be presenting Form Captains badges on Monday to the following boys who have been selected as Captains for the term.

Form Captains

Congratulations are extended to: Thomas Browne 3T, Nicholas Watson 3N, Nicholas Cox 4D, AndrŽ Larsson 4L, John Fingleton 4W, Sam Cruickshanks 5A, Matthew Stacy 5G, William Kyrou 5W, Jonathan Chia 6I, Finlay Newham 6P, William Li 6W.

I remind all dads and special males in the lives of our boys, of the evening planned for next Thursday (4 May) with Paul Reifell. Responses so far have been disappointing! This will be a great opportunity to get to know others dads on a more social level and I would be pleased to receive late applications on Monday. Additional fliers were sent home with each boy again yesterday.

Our focus this week has been on Anzac Day with a special Assembly conducted this morning for all boys. The boys heard the Anzac Requiem, an Anzac story and shared in the Anzac Oath. The Assembly concluded with our National Anthem and it is hoped that all boys have gained some appreciation of the sacrifice many great Australian's made on our behalf during times of terrible conflict.

My thought for this week is the Anzac Oath, something I trust will continue through the generations ahead, long after the last Anzac has finally passed away.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget.

Mothers Day Lunch

The Mothers' Day Luncheon on Friday 12 May is almost full, but we were a little premature with our RSVP date, so we can still take bookings for the few remaining places. This will be a very happy occasion - a chance to indulge and to win lucky envelope prizes. This year we have been overwhelmed with generosity and have a fantastic range of gifts.

Please also remember the Mothers' Day Stall on Thursday 11 May. Your boys will need between $1.00 and $5.00 to buy their mothers, grandmothers and other special people a gift so please remember to slip some money into their pockets that day.

Reminder to Parents

Please return the pink asthma management plan form that you received last term so that they can be collated. You would have received this form only if you indicated that your son is an asthmatic.
