10 November 2000 No. 33From the Head of Junior SchoolI trust everyone enjoyed the extended long weekend and that all are refreshed for the lead up to the end of another busy year. Prep to Year Three boys have commenced their preparations and rehearsals for the annual Christmas Service. These boys lead the school in a service of celebration, worship and prayer. Boys from Year Four to Six are in their final rehearsals for their annual concert next Tuesday, to be held, for the first time, at the Camberwell Civic Centre. This will enable the boys to perform in an appropriate venue, whilst providing better viewing and listening facilities for parents. Whilst tickets have been on sale for some time, some are still available and can be purchased through the Junior School Office or at the door on Tuesday. Any queries should be directed to the Office and I remind parents that this is a compulsory activity for boys in Years Four to Six. With these creative programs in full rehearsal, I am pleased to advise that the Principal and School Council have approved the appointment of a half time Drama teacher for the Junior School from the beginning of next year. This means that a full drama program will operate from Prep to Year Six. Focussing on drama skills, communication, social skills and development of self-esteem, I look forward to the impact this program will have across all curriculum areas. Mr James Robertson, who is an energetic and enthusiastic young teacher will join the staff in this role next year and I will welcome him more formally on his arrival. As this has been a short week, we have had no theme running across the school, however, I did come across this poem which highlights the little things we do as parents, which we often may not think too much about, but can actually have an impact on the lives of our children. I share it with you as my thought for the week... When You Thought I Wasn't LookingWhen you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat,
