28 May 1999 No. 15From the Head of Junior SchoolOn Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, I had the pleasure of visiting St Peter's Collegiate School in Adelaide, where our touring musicians were being billeted on the annual Music exchange between our two schools. At the time of writing the boys were still in Adelaide, but I am pleased to report the tour has progressed extremely well. Concerts, rehearsals and school visits were all being enjoyed and I was delighted with the many comments I received from the staff and parents of our hosts, complimenting the manner in which the Scotch boys have presented themselves. The most common comment I received from the parents of St Peter's was, 'He is such a well-mannered boy and a delight to have in our home.' Well done Scotch! The Westminster School in Adelaide has expressed keen interest in becoming a part of this exchange and it is hoped that through their links with Grimwade (Melbourne Grammar Junior School), that our four schools will link together annually, through Music. I extend congratulations to all our touring musicians on being such fine representatives of the College and thank Miss Allen, Ms Piggin, Mr Carson, Mr Gregory, Mr Ferguson, Miss Robertson, Ms Philip, Ms Hallum, Mr Mott and Mr Crummins for their 'extra' efforts during the week. My theme for this week encouraged boys to think about their individual talents and how they can best use these to extend themselves and to also build on these gifts that have been given to them by God. We heard the parable of the 'Talents' and concluded with the words of encouragement Jesus used to describe how the master had spoken to the servant who had used the talents given to him wisely: My thought for the week:Guy B Mason Forthcoming dates
Term Two Integrated WorkAll year levels have commenced their Term Two Integrated Unit of work. The year level staff have planned these units to engage the boys in meaningful topics of relevance and interest. Connections are made within and across key learning areas so that skills, values and understandings can be taught and assessed effectively. These topics will enhance the boys' learning about their world.
