Junior School Family Day - TOMORROW!
After months of planning and weeks of training, Family Day is finally here and all is set for a wonderful day. It is exciting that all boys from Prep through to Six will be involved throughout the day. Parents, families and friends are very welcome to share in this very important day in the life of our Junior School.
Please note the following:
Year 3, 4, 5 and 6
Boys are to be in their House areas at 8.45am at the latest.
Prep, 1 and 2
Boys are required to meet at the steps of the Chapel at 10.20am and will be involved in activities until 11.45 am (although they are expected to remain at Family Day until 1.05 pm).
For all boys
1. Correct sports uniform and hats should be worn and a named drink bottle is required. (School Tracksuit if it is cold.)
2. Opportunities will be provided for boys to meet parents and purchase food items from stalls at appropriate times during the morning.
3. The sports will end by 1.05pm. Boys from P-6 will participate in the closing formalities.
For Parents!
Please encourage your sons but please DO NOT proceed onto the oval at any time.
I wish all boys, our JSPA organisers and helpers a wonderful day.
Lost Property
I note that, once again, the Lost Property bin is extremely full! This was cleared out at the end of term and it concerns me that already so many items are unclaimed. It has also come to my attention that several 'named items' are missing and not in the Lost Property bin - they must be somewhere!
It is extremely easy for items to become mixed up with the clothes of other boys and I encourage all families to double check at home to ensure that the items possessed are the items owned.
The assistance from all families here would be greatly appreciated. Items not belonging to your son can be left at the Junior School Office for return to the rightful owner.
Theme for the Week
This week we have focussed on Creativity. Boys were encouraged to discover what gifts they possess; to use knowledge and learning to develop these; to think of new ways to make things work; to do things in their own way; and that (except at school) it is okay to dream.
Boys were reminded of the words from Paul in his letter to the Romans;
"Let us use the different gifts allotted to each of us by God's Grace...."
My thought for the week;
Yesterday is a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision;
but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and tomorrow a vision of hope.....

German Activity Week
After the success of our first German Day last year, we thought something similar would be a great idea during 'Oktoberfest' time this year. The LOTE committee decided upon a German Activity Week, to be held during the week of 25- 29 October. This will involve each year level doing one special activity for the week, along with quizzes, competitions and other fun activities. We have several guests leading activities, along with our class teachers and specialists. We also will also have many other visitors from the German speaking community observing and participating in the week's activities.
I would really appreciate parents again sending along 'anything German' that we could put on display in the hall. I again thank all those who made contributions last year and encourage them to do the same again this year. I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who could present something to the boys, (eg details of trips to Germany, etc.) Please feel free to contact me in the Junior School if you are able to help in any way.

LOTE Co-ordinator
