2008 - Semester 2 Classes

These are 2 hr classes from 7.00 -9.00pm on the designated evening over a 16 week semester. There will be a mid-semester break from 15 September to 3 October.

No classes are held on public holidays.

Teaching Focus:

Is to develop practical communication skills, Grammatical concepts are introduced where appropriate to the topic. Exploration of aspectsof the culture of the particular language is an integralpart of our course study. Teachers are responsive to thestudents' particular needs and purpose for studying the language.

Assessment:

Certificates are issued based on attendance and / or level reached. These are optional and as requested by the student.

Cost:

Adults $425 ($13.28 per hour)
Students (Tertiary) $400 ($12.50 per hour)
Students (Secondary) $400 ($12.50 per hour)

Beginner 1 -1st sem. Beginner 2 -2nd sem.
Intermediate 1 -3rd sem. Intermediate 2 -4th sem.
Intermediate 3 -5th sem. Intermediate 4 -6th sem.
Advanced 1 -7th sem. Advanced 2 -8th sem.
Advanced 3 -9th sem. Advanced 4 -10th sem.
Advanced 5 -11th sem. Advanced 6 -12th sem.

VCE Oral Exam Preparation

These are 2hr classes for students doing Units 3 & 4 LOTE from 4.30-6.30pm on the designated afternoon for 4 weeks.

TEACHING FOCUS► To provide VCE students with the opportunity to gain confidence through practice and individual help in small groups and to improve their performance potential for the forthcoming oral exam. Coursework covers the two components of the VCE LOTE Oral Exam; general conversation and the detailed study. All teachers are experienced VCE Oral Exam Assessors.

Year 11 Conversation

Ideal for students about to go on exchange and/or those keen to improve their oral skills. These are 1hr classes on the designated afternoon for 10 weeks. There will be a mid-semester break from 15th September - 3rd October. No classes are held on public holidays.

TEACHING FOCUS► Will be on maintaining and increasing oral confidence and fluency using pair, small group and whole class activities with a native speaker teacher of the language. Attention will be given to pronunciation and intonation, appropriate register of the language and expression. Vocabulary and grammar will also be revised where appropriate.
