1. Study in Japan Scholarships

The Japanese Government is offering scholarships to Australian citizens for study at tertiary level beginning in 2009. Opportunities in humanities and social sciences. No previous language studies necessary. Further information – www.au.amb-japan.go.jp

2. Mobil Aviation Flying Scholarships

Applications are now sought from students aged over 17 for training scholarships offered jointly by the RAAF Association and the Royal Victorian Aero Club. Scholarship holders are taken to the GFPT level of Private Pilots licence and are valued at $6500. Further information – www.flyingtraining.com.au

3. Accounting Cadetship Programs 2009

Applications will open soon for Accounting cadetships with the major Chartered Accounting firms – Ernst and Young, Deloittes, KPMG and PWC. Year 12 students with an interest in a career in accounting are invited to apply – VCE Accounting is not a prerequisite. The cadetships consist of two years full time work and part time university study followed by two years full time study to complete the degree. 4. Law Week 2008

5. Agriventure International Agricultural Exchanges

Agriventure is an International Agricultural Exchange Program that has been running for over 40 years. Opportunities to live and work in Canada, USA, Europe, NZ and Japan. Programs run from 4 – 12 months. Contact Sally at kooralong@bigpond.com for details.

6. Australian International Hotel School

Career Focus Days 2008 – a number of residential focus days are on offer at AIHS in Canberra. Contact Don Whitford at don.whitford@aihs.edu.au for details.

7. Open Days 2008

Open Day dates for 2008 are attached to this newsletter. Open Days are an important means of finding out about courses and university life. We encourage parents and students to attend at least 2 or 3 different institutions.

8. Marine Science Careers Day at Melbourne Aquarium

Want a job where you can go cage diving with sharks or get up close and personal with whales, sea turtles or seahorses ? Are you interested in conserving our coastlines and marine life ? If this sounds like you then the Melbourne Aquarium’s Careers Days might interest you. Details available from Course and Careers Services.

9. Flightcamp – Bacchus Marsh Aerodrome

10. Latest Medical Course news

• A hard copy summary of procedures for entry into Medicine courses across Australasia is now available from the Course and Careers centre.

• The Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) produced a Medical School Guide in 2007. The guide informs prospective medical students about the challenges of studying medicine and the diversity of medical courses on offer in Australia. It will be updated each August.
