The Scotch College Sir John Monash Memorial Lecture Dinner series is intended to commemorate the contribution of our most distinguished Old Boy, Sir John Monash to Australian life and to afford prominent contemporary Australians the opportunity to speak on a topic of national interest and importance.
Following the highly successful lecture by David Malouf in 2007, it is with pleasure that we announce this year’s Monash Lecturer will be prominent Australian social researcher and novelist, Hugh Mackay.The lecture follows the format of an after dinner address and will be held:

A highly engaging speaker, Mr Mackay trained as a psychologist and his work spans many areas of social research highly relevant to contemporary Australia. Author of several best-selling books, he writes for a number of national newspapers and broadcasts regularly on ABC radio. The evening will be a great occasion for all who wish to participate in this fine new Scotch tradition. Hugh’s published titles include 'Reinventing Australia' and his most recent title is 'Advance Australia -Where'. His fifth novel will be published next year.
