Angus Hamilton plays For Australian Schoolboys against Tonga

On Saturday 26th September 2009 Angus Hamilton (Year 12) played for Australian Schoolboys in their excellent 83-18 win over Tongan Schoolboys at Riverview College in Lane Cove, NSW. Tom Batty was there to watch the game and congratulate Angus on becoming the first ever Scotch schoolboy to win an Australian cap at schoolboy level.

Angus is also selected for the Australia 'A' Schoolboys to play New Zealand at Southport School on 5th October 2009.

Well done, Angus, and all the best for the New Zealand game from all of the Scotch Rugby community.

Finals Day at Scotch on Saturday 8th August

Scotch played host to the VSRU Finals on Saturday 8th August and the weather turned out beautifully for the occasion. The day was also a showcase for the Melbourne Super 15 bid with the assembled crowd forming a Big V for a photo opportunity showcased on the VSRU website.

St Kevins beat Melbourne Grammar School to win the Grand Final 33-7 while Scotch beat Xavier College 39-0 to seal 3rd place.

2009 Presentation Night

Tuesday 11th August saw the rugby faithful gather in the James Forbes Academy to present the annual awards to each year group, including the presentation of jerseys to the 1st XV team.

Angus Hamilton and Jack North were congratulated for their appearance in the Combined States side that contested the final of the Australian Schoolboys Division I championship. Angus is going on the represent Australian Schoolboys against Tonga in September, the first Scotch schoolboy to do so. Chris Fry and Shawn Shrivastav have been selected for the VSRU U16 tour of UK and Ireland this year, while Alex Georges has been selected for the VSRU U14 team. Chris Scott won the Philippe Gyles Shield as most outstanding player in the Junior Grades.

The evening also saw the retirement of 9 Scrum Club members, including President Tim North. Tim presented a perpetual trophy for the most outstanding player in the Senior Grades to the school.
