The parent support group for basketball at Scotch, ‘The Slam Dunk Club’, was founded in July 2003. The aim of the club is for the basketball community to support the administration, help develop the players, and have some fun. The committee meets every six weeks throughout the Basketball season and we welcome new members.

Support for the Teacher-in-Charge of Basketball: The Slam Dunk Club supplies administrative help with events, camps and tours, whether Scotch is visiting another School, or we are hosting a visit here.
Club Year Level Representatives: Relay information between the Club and parents in their Year Level. They inform families of upcoming events, training camps and basketball tours. Email is used to assist in this.
Great Shot! The Slam Dunk Club prides itself on its communication. Every week during the APS season, an email alert is sent advising of latest news/events and a link to the Slam Dunk Club’s weekly newsletter, Great Shot! Great Shot! includes game reports, diary dates, Coaches column and news, keeping parents and players up-to-date with what’s happening in the basketball community at Scotch.
Funding: The Club has helped finance specialist coaching, teams participating in School competitions, tour groups and assists visiting players and parents.
• 1sts Singlet Presentation Ceremony and introduction of coaches
• Presentation Night concludes the season and includes a 3-on-3 competition, Old Boys match and awards to the players
• The Slam Dunk Club breakfast with invited speaker is open to the whole Scotch community
Scotch basketball continues to improve with external basketball coaches, and the Year 7/8 training camp aims to develop player’s skills in the younger Year Levels.
Tours: In the past Year 9 and 10 boys have toured New Zealand each second year, with a return visit from a New Zealand School in alternate years.
Year 10/11 boys have toured the USA in 1998 and 2005 and 2007. In 2007 we also hosted a visit from Trinity College, Sydney.
Come along to games: watch your son play and cheer the team on! This presents a great opportunity to meet other parents and share in everyone’s enthusiasm for the sport.
Join the Slam Dunk Committee: The time you can commit need not be great but every little bit will make a difference to basketball at Scotch.
