Recognising the hard workers: OSCA's lifeblood

We all know who they are – members of Old Scotch clubs and branches who have provided selfless service over many years. They’ve worked hard on committees, raised funds, organised events, maintained mailing lists, run chook raffles, and provided outstanding support to the club and the School. In short, without them there would be no clubs or branches.

Though valuable club members like this probably seek no reward for their efforts, OSCA believes it’s time meritorious service to the Association should be properly recognised.

That’s why the OSCA Council recently introduced the OSCA merit awards. These annual awards will recognise people who have provided outstanding service to the Association, either directly or through involvement in our clubs and branches.

Here are the conditions of the merit awards:

The nominee’s service must relate to voluntary work done for OSCA by a club member, male or female, over a reasonable period for the betterment of that person’s Old Scotch group or OSCA as a whole.

A full, written submission must be made to the OSCA council by any member of an Old Scotch group.

A sub-committee of the OSCA council will review all applications and make recommendations to the OSCA council for approval. The sub-committee will take into account the nominee being a true and fit person, the work that has been done, any extenuating circumstances and the value to OSCA of the nominee’s service.

The sub-committee will seek the permission of the nominee to make the award. The presentations will be made annually at the OSCA annual general meeting and president’s dinner (to be held this year on Thursday 9 November).

If you know someone in your club or branch who fits these criteria, consider nominating this person for an OSCA merit award. Application forms can be downloaded from the OSCAnet website at www.oscanet.com.au (You will need to have an Acrobat reader to download the form.) Click on ‘forms’ at the top of the home page and follow the prompts.

Alternatively, please contact the Scotch College development office on 9810 4300, and ask for a form to be mailed to you.
