The Scotch 1st XI played a friendly match against Old Scotch cricketers for the Hec Ingram Trophy on Wednesday 15 November in cold, threatening weather. The School 1st XI batted first and made 6 for 146 from their rain-reduced 27 overs. Sam Cruickshanks and Maurice Clayton made a 30-run opening partnership, which was followed by a 39-run partnership between Jamie Macmillan and Paul McConnachie, who both remained not out.
Once the weather cleared the Old Scotch Boys made 1 for 44 from 13 overs before the game was abandoned. Tom Whitelaw and Rob Sinclair combined for a 44-run partnership before being retired. Hamish Dick then came in and managed to collect a duck before the heavens opened and ducks of another variety took centre stage. Nothing like a game of cricket to help break a drought!
