Scotch College

Cup comprehensively in our keeping

Football

For the first time in years, Scotch College didn’t play Melbourne Grammar in an official APS football match – a quirky outcome of the seeded redraw system the APS adopted for the 2006 season.

Both schools, however, were determined that 148 years of history should be preserved, and agreed to play for the Cordner Eggleston Cup on Friday 11 August at Melbourne Grammar’s new playing fields, Edwin Flack Reserve in Port Melbourne.

The Scotch team jumped out of the blocks with a powerful first quarter and were never headed, going on to record a 14 goal victory 18.17.125 to 6.6.42. Best players were Captain Nick Smith, Junior Rioli, Nathan Djerrkura, Lachie Hill and Daniel Parisi.
