The Old Scotch Soccer Club has had another stellar year on and off the pitch, with the club (at the time of writing) vying for promotion, and with an outside chance at taking out the championship.
The seniors are currently in third position on the Provisional League Division 2 table, continuing on from their promotion from Division 3 in 2005 – more concrete evidence that we are a club on the rise. With some crucial games coming up, including a match against ladder leader Berwick Kings, it was destined to be a tough and potentially rewarding month for the boys in red, blue and gold.
The reserves had recently recaptured some form and were challenging for a top-half finish, after almost knocking off undefeated Old Melbourne – only to go down 2-1 in the 90th minute.
Off the field, the open day and FA Cup nights proved successful. At the latter, good numbers turned out to have a bowl at the Toorak Bowls Club and then pack inside to watch the big game between Liverpool and West Ham.
With a long history stretching back almost 25 years, plans are well underway for the club’s 25th anniversary and presentation night. We hope our members can toast some success during one of the most enjoyable functions of the yearly calendar. For ticket information, please contact the club secretary, Tim Ward, on 0411 115 790.
