In February, the Principal, Dr Gordon Donaldson, AM, announced that he would conclude his twenty-five years as Principal of our great School. During this time, Dr Donaldson’s leadership has seen Scotch cement its position as one of the leading schools in Australia.
Appointed as Scotch’s eighth Principal in 1983, Dr Donaldson announced from the outset that his priorities were ‘to educate boys to the highest level they are capable of, to develop spiritual awareness, physical development, and provide a framework of morality within which boys develop’.
There is little doubt that he has followed these aims through and that the School has continued to develop and prosper under his watchful eye. The Junior School has enjoyed every visit by Dr Donaldson and boys will miss calling out across the oval, “Morning Dr D!”
The Junior School community extends congratulations and sincere thanks to “Dr D” for twenty-five years of outstanding leadership and wishes him and Mrs Donaldson well for all that this richly deserved retirement will bring. The ‘Donaldson’ years will be remembered as exceptional years of great development and growth.
