Words: ASTRIDA COOPER • ACTING DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
The Gordon Donaldson Scholarship Fund is off to a flying start, recently passing the $1.07 million mark on its way to the fund objective of raising $3 million over five years in tax-deductible donations.
One of the objectives long championed by the retiring Principal, Dr Gordon Donaldson, has been to offer the opportunities available at Scotch College to all young boys, irrespective of their financial means.
In response to this, the School Council endorsed the establishment of the Gordon Donaldson Scholarship Fund as a tribute and perpetual testament to Dr Donaldson’s philosophy and vision for Scotch College. It is hoped that the fund will allow one student to start at Scotch in Year 7 every year from 2009 in perpetuity.
The recipients of the scholarship will be selected by the Principal of Scotch College, and will be drawn from families who for financial or other reasons would otherwise be unable to attend the School.
The generosity of the wider Scotch Family will ensure that the first Gordon Donaldson Scholars will take their places at the College in 2009 and 2010.
I invite and encourage you to join those who have already made the commitment to recognise the contribution to the education of boys at our School and throughout Australia by our retiring Principal.
Please strongly consider making a personal gift or pledge using the form below, and returning it to the Development Office. Alternatively, you can contribute online at www.scotch.vic.au by clicking on the ‘on line giving’ box in the top right-hand corner of the home page.
