When boys from each year in the Junior School were asked a variety of questions about the School, an interesting and varied array of responses resulted. Many boys said they liked Scotch because they saw it as a ‘safe’, ‘clean’ place, where ‘people are nice to each other’ and ‘I can learn things here’. Some seemed a little surprised that the School still existed after so many years: ‘It’s pretty old and it’s still here,’ said a bemused Year 2 student, while another recognised the importance of knowing a little about the School’s history: ‘If our children ask hard questions we will know the answers’.
Knowing the answers is important, but variety is the spice of life: many are happy that ‘we have lots of different things to do’. Still others realise that ‘the most important thing I have learned is to have a go’.
These pages contain responses from boys at all levels of the Junior School to questions about the School, their role in it, and what it means to them. The answers are sensitive, sometimes amusing, perceptive – and always appreciative of the many opportunities Scotch life presents to them every day.
