The Old Scotch Music Club is proud to invite former musicians of Scotch College to take part in its inaugural ‘Back to School’ weekend. The Music Club, with kind assistance from Scotch’s Director of Music, John Ferguson, will hold a weekend of musical activities in the James Forbes Academy, from 13 to 15 July.
Beginning with a cocktail party then a rehearsal on Friday night, the program will consist of intensive orchestral rehearsals throughout Saturday, concluding with a performance on Sunday afternoon for the School community in the Ian Roach Hall. There will also be a dinner on the Saturday evening.
The plan is to play an overture such as ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’, a concerto with an Old Boy soloist, and a symphony, perhaps Beethoven’s Fifth or Schubert’s Eighth.
This project offers a wonderful opportunity for former students keen to experience playing in an orchestra once more. Also, it presents Old Boys with a rare opportunity to perform in Scotch’s magnificent James Forbes Academy.
