Congratulations to Scotch’s state representatives in the under 18 interstate football carnival, played during the term 2 holidays.
Lachie Hill was selected in the Victorian Metro team and the Rioli boys – Junior, Stewart and Shannon – represented the Northern Territory. It was a great achievement and a wonderful experience for these talented young footballers to play at this level, and mix it with the cream of under-age talent from around the nation.
Particular congratulations go to Junior, who was selected in the All-Australian team announced at the conclusion of the carnival. No doubt our boys came under the gaze of numerous talent scouts representing the various AFL clubs, who were looking for potential draftees.
Meanwhile the 7As triumphed over the Victorian Primary Schools representative team in their annual fixture played on 15 June. A solid team performance, with contributions from all 24 players, resulted in a good win after a hard-fought contest between two well-matched sides. Strong tackling, long kicks to position and plenty of run and carry through the midfield were highlights of Scotch’s game.
Four Year 8 boys invited to take part adapted well to the team’s style of play. Coaches Barry Price and Pauline Westmore were very proud of their boys on the day, and of the many positives to come from the game.
