WORDS: Mrs Astrida Cooper – Acting director of development
The University Club at the University of Western Australia was the venue for a very enjoyable dinner on Thursday 30 October for WA-based members of the Alexander Morrison Circle, and other supporters of the School.
Acting Director of Development Astrida Cooper spent two days in Perth in late October meeting with several old boys, and hosted the dinner with the help of Don Werner (’61) and John Kollosche (’56).
Astrida updated the group on School activities, answering questions about sporting achievements during the year, how the new Principal has settled in, as well as looking to the future of the School. Recognition was given to those who had made a commitment to Scotch, and Darryl Smalley (’56) spoke about why he has made provision for the School in his will.
Everyone enjoyed a very happy evening, and as at any meeting of old boys the conversation moved to various masters who had taught the group – Billy Blenkiron, Stonk Ross, Herr Mendel, Tiger Lyne and Hoppy Waller to name but a few. The stories told had all present laughing with gusto at the escapades of young Scotch boys from the 1930s to the ’70s. GS
