Since the end of last year Transurban has continued to erect the acoustic wall along the widened tollway adjacent to Scotch. Much of the noisy works associated with construction were completed last year during school holidays or after school hours. At this time the acoustic wall is largely completed, with a few isolated concrete panels still to be erected before the whole wall is coated in a protective finish and the final metre-high transparent panel is erected on top.
Beyond this, negotiations have continued with Transurban in order to optimise the direct interface between the tollway viaduct and the Melville Oval, the closest point of physical contact with the School. In all of this the School has sought to minimise the effective loss of playing space as result of the tollway widening. Negotiations with VicRoads in regard to compensation matters are likely to commence later this year. GS
