Cameron Newnham of Year 12 has won the secondary model-making category of the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce ‘Car of the Future Target 2020’, competition.
Cameron won a prize of $3,000, with Scotch also receiving a $3,000 prize. Cameron received his prize during the Melbourne International Motor Show, and his winning entry was on display at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre for the 11 days of the event.
The Year 11 Visual Communication and Design class studies automotive design during second semester each year. Last year their brief was to design a car for the future – for the year 2020. At the end of the year all the students entered their designs in the VACC competition, and Cameron was successful in the secondary model-making category.
The VACC’s general manager communications and marketing, Tim O’Brien, said the Melbourne Motor Show was a great showcase for Victoria’s young auto-designers. ‘The creativity and execution of the designs these students produced is amazing. They have very bright futures ahead of them.’
Cameron Newnham said: ‘All these beautiful cars here at the Motor Show, and mine is among them. It could not be better.’ GS
