Our new Junior School staff

Mr Benjamin (Ben) Marr (’91) has been appointed to teach Year 6, and joins the College after eight years’ experience in government schools and at Southwood Boys’ Grammar. During this short teaching career (which followed a stint in town planning), Ben has demonstrated leadership through various coordinator roles including middle years numeracy, interschool sport, student representative council and the camping program. He has also volunteered in the USA, run camps for children with diabetes in conjunction with the Royal Children’s Hospital and is a keen cricketer.

Mr Michael Moloney joins Scotch following 11 years’ teaching experience, the most recent of which has been at Auburn Primary School. Michael is married with one son, was the staff representative on the school council at Auburn Primary School, sitting on their education sub-committee, and was a mentor to new teachers within the school community. Michael is an established swimming coach, working for a number of years with Melbourne Girls’ Grammar School, and he taught prep at Auburn. Michael will teach Year 2.

Ms Kathryn (Kate) Ikinger has been appointed as the new Director of Junior Primary. Kate was previously the head of junior school at The King David School in Melbourne and a member of the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (Victorian Branch). Kate was in this leadership role for four years and prior to this was the deputy head at Christ Church Grammar School in South Yarra, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the junior primary department.

Mrs Deborah (Deb) Parkinson joins Scotch as the Library Technician. Deb has previously worked in the libraries at Kilvington Girls’ Grammar and Deakin University, Burwood campus. Deb is married with two children, has previously worked in the airline industry and is a member of ALIA, a committee member and convenor for the Business Information Group, and is completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Library and Information Management).
