Myke goes bush with his second book

Words: Mr David Ashton

He’s a talented illustrator, author and mural artist, and just for good measure, a fine graphic designer, too.

We’re talking about Myke Mollard (’85) who after a couple of years of hard work has recently launched his second book, An A-Z of Australian Bush Creatures.

One critic, describing the book as ‘magnificent’, said it had ‘lifted Myke’s talents and taken them up a gear’. Readers, said the critic, ‘will be blown away by the detail’. Further, it is ‘a stunning showcase of the artistic skills and imagination of Myke Mollard’.

What’s it all about? The book is an alphabetic journey into the world of Australia’s amazingly varied fauna, showcasing more than 400 land, sea and airborne creatures. Although very thoroughly researched, Australian Bush Creatures isn’t a reference book. The illustrator describes it as ‘a window into the world’s second largest ecosystem, that is intended to awake a curiosity and love for the extraordinary diversity of the Australian bush and its inhabitants’.
