The annual Premier’s VCE Awards celebrate the very highest achievements at the VCE level. Scotch College extends its warmest congratulations to the eight Scotch boys from the Class of 2008 whose results were acknowledged at a splendid function held at the Melbourne Convention Centre, in the presence of the Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Kretser, AC, and the Hon John Brumby MP, Premier of Victoria. The Governor and Premier were assisted by several high-profile people, including Eddie McGuire AM, Professor Robert Thomas OAM, Jane Hall and Rob Gell. Each presenter expressed admiration for the passion, intelligence and determination that the gathered young people had shown to achieve such results.

From Scotch there were three Top All-Round VCE High Achievers: John Biun, Timothy Martin and Andy Wang. These boys – in an elite group of 18 students from around Victoria – achieved study scores of 46 or higher in at least five VCE studies in the current year and the year immediately prior.

As well as John, Timothy and Andy being named as Top All-Round VCE High Achievers, five Scotch boys were awarded a Premier’s VCE Award for excellence in individual studies:

Edward Hamer (Design and Technology), Stephen Kyrou (Media), Maximilian Lee (English as a Second Language), Minh-Quan Nguyen (History), and Michael Yang (Biology). Michael completed Biology in Year 11 in 2008.

The students received a medal and a certificate acknowledging their achievements. They are most worthy recipients and we congratulate them on their wonderful efforts.
