New University Chancellor

The Hon Alex Chernov AO QC has succeeded Ian Renard (’63) as Chancellor of The University of Melbourne. Mr Chernov is only the 20th chancellor in the university’s 155-year history. His sons – Andrew (’87) and Michael (’92) – attended Scotch.

As a Queen’s Counsel, Mr Chernov has practised almost exclusively in commercial and company law, and equity.

Ian Renard was Vice-Captain of Scotch in 1964, and was a Prefect and Captain of Gilray House.

Don McClean – a great Scotch cricket supporter

Don McClean (’52) sent us this photograph of members of the Junior School under 13 cricket team of 1945/46 intently watching a game unfold. Don went on to become a member of the 1952 1st XI and has always been a staunch supporter of Scotch cricket. In the photo we have (back row, left to right) Geoff Kilgour, Carl Hoffman, Leigh Hartkopf, Bill Ramsay, Carl Werner, Brian Anderson; (front row) Mr Rusden, Don McClean, Duncan Watson, David Yoffa.
