The mild, still conditions were perfect for the occasion, drawing a large crowd of students, parents and friends to the Main Oval.
For the first time in decades, the unit carried SLRs. This new element in both the training and implementation of the parade was demanding for both the instructors and cadets. The drill movements are more complicated, being harder to train and perfect.
The performance of the Military and Pipe Bands, Guard, Flag Party and Recruit Companies was exemplary, as evidenced by the drill movements, march past and Review Ceremony.
Our Reviewing Officer, the Commander, Training Command, Army, Major General R.A. Powell, AM, commented on the professionalism of the parade, the fine reputation our unit commands in Australia and the values the cadets would appreciate through their time in the service at Scotch College.
The Tattoo concluded with a spectacular fireworks display. The Parade Commander, Unit CUO Stefan Leitl, RSM, WO1 Peter Dick, Guard Commander, CUO Ben Healy, Guard and Flag Party deserve our congratulations for an outstanding contribution to the success of the parade.
All cadets and officers should be proud of their efforts in the unit presenting such an excellent parade, perhaps its best ever in the eleven year history of the event at Scotch College.
Special thanks go to the Parade Director, LT Norman Bain and his team of instructors for maintaining the professionalism and standards which we have come to expect from the Unit on parade.
