We all discovered (if we didn't know already) how wonderful it is to enjoy Christmas fare without any associated stress, and with that winter chill in the air!
The sensational decorations, so ably executed by Helen Taylor and Sandy Melnikoff, immediately created a festive mood in the Boykett Room. This was doubtless enhanced by the sparkling wine.
A potato and leek soup entrée set the pattern for the delicious food, followed by traditional turkey and ham and what else but plum pudding. The accompanying wines provided a challenging focus as Wineperson, Mary Gyles, organised us to taste and attempt to identify the contents of masked bottles. Each table tried to reach some consensus - not all were able to. In fact, some people just had to have another sip, and another, in the effort to ensure they were on track! A representative of each table finally reported on the deliberations, causing considerable hilarity.
The evening was a combined function for the Wine and Food Society and the Old Scotch Collegians' Lodge. With wine, food and good fellowship as highlights, we were all able to come away considering the evening to be another success, and we look forward to further functions involving other Old Scotch groups.
