Ashley Perelberg (Class of '92) died tragically at the age of 18.
To commemorate his life, the Perelberg family have established an endowment to fund an award, to be presented annually, to a member of the Scotch Family who demonstrates the true Scotch spirit and who by his deeds, brings honour to the school, and service to the community.
Old Boys have the opportunity this year to nominate one of their members to win this prestigious award. Nominations are sought from, or of, Old Boys -
The inaugural award to an Old Boy went to Hugh Taylor, in 1996 to Ian Stapleton, and 1998 to Rob Moodie.
The award is perpetuated by means of a significant work of art, in sterling sliver, displayed in the Lithgow Centre.
A replica of a portion, also in silver, will be presented to the winner at Speech Night on Thursday 19 October 2000.
Nominations will be accepted from Old Boys, members of the Scotch Family and the wider community, and should be submitted on the form enclosed in this edition of Great Scot.
The nominations will not be considered unless the basis of the citation includes the two year period 1998 and 1999.
Nominations will be considered by the Perelberg Award Committee, which will make recommendations to the Principal.
The Principal will have the final decision regarding the recipient, and reserves the right to make no award, if he deems that no sufficiently worthy nomination has been received.
Nominations will be accepted by the Principal's secretary until 4pm Friday 1 September, 2000.
