A soiree by George!

George Logie-Smith

A soirée, by George!

The contribution of George Logie-Smith OBE to Scotch music - and his influence on Australian musical education - is legendary. As Director of Music from 1959 to 1978, he took standards of tuition and performance to exceptional heights, led international tours, established Music Scholarships and the Music Auxiliary, and above all inculcated a love of instrumental and choral music in thousands of Scotch boys. As part of the campaign for The James Forbes Academy, the Foundation is seeking to honour George by establishing the Logie-Smith Endowment.

To launch this quest and celebrate the outstanding work of George, Dick Shirrefs, Alec Lyne, Ian Harrison and others in the arts at Scotch, a special soirée will be held on Tuesday 8 August in the Cardinal Pavilion at 7.30 pm.

Tickets are $40 for a two-course meal, including drinks, and (of course) some memorable music. Invitations are being sent, and priority given, to Old Boys who were involved in music in George's era. Members of the Scotch Family are welcome. Please call the Development Office (tel 9810 4300) as soon as possible, for an invitation.
