From the School Captain

Scotch College: Head of the River Champions 1998. Saturday 4 April will be a day that I will always remember, and is definitely the highlight of the school year so far. To see over 500 Scotch Collegians wearing the colours of cardinal, gold and blue, cheering their throats hoarse by encouraging the crew to a well earned victory was an extremely emotional event.

Other summer sports teams also experienced a great deal of success throughout the season. The 1st lawn bowls team managed to win the coveted premiership trophy, while both cricket and tennis teams finished third, a fine effort. The senior swim team came second in the APS swimming finals, however achieved an outstanding result by winning the All Schools swimming competition. The orienteering team performed very well again this year to be the best school to compete from week to week. Congratulations to all those who competed for the school over the summer and especially to those teams that achieved the 'Team of the Season' award. Keep up the good work during these winter months.

Off the sporting field, the school has seen many other highlights to date. The Year 12 Dinner Dance at the end of last term was a very special and eventful evening, all those who attended had a memorable time. There have also been many tours and camps, conducted with great success, over the holidays and early weeks of Term 2. Finally, our musicians worked very hard to produce an outstanding evening at this year's May Concert.

In general, the school continues to operate smoothly during this very busy time of the year, especially academically for the Year 12s. I urge all boys to continue their involvement in all extra-curricular activities as this is a certain key to success. Make the most of your time here at Scotch, it will be over before you know it!
