One of the most noticeable features of modern education has been the increase in the number of students on exchange.
Scotch is no exception. In recent years, boys have visited Germany, France and America.
Year 12 student, Ross Geddes, spent the northern winter in Germany, and then welcomed several German students to Scotch during Term 1. Year 10 students, Thomas Helten, Ferdinand Herrman, Marcel Jahnke and Florian Schubert, arrived at Scotch under the auspices of the German Teachers' Association, while Year 11 student, Nicholas Krauss, had come through a private arrangement.
Later this year, their Scotch hosts, David Cheetham, Hugh Batrouney, Andrew Henning, John Feddersen and Christopher Ruggles, will visit Germany.
The Year 10 boys enjoyed Design Technology, which offered a new educational experience and the Library offered stimulating opportunities for research.
In early May we farewelled the German students and prepared for the exchange with Raffles in Singapore. Scotch boys will host visitors from Singapore and then stay as boarders at Raffles next January.
Director of the Language Centre, Mr Shugg, had news of a programme for Year 10 boys, sponsored by the Italian Government, enabling five boys to visit a Como school with a reciprocal visit.
