Your opportunity to help realise a vision
for Scotch College Melbourne

Scotch College is a school built on 'a goodly heritage, proud traditions and cherished memories'.

It is also a school built on the generosity of generations, and on a series of visions -

  • the awe-inspiring vision of its founder, the Rev. James Forbes;
  • the astonishing vision of those who moved the School to its present incomparable site in Hawthorn;
  • the astute vision of councils, principals and Old Boys;
  • the admirable vision of all those who have striven to ensure that Victoria's oldest school is renowned for its quality and leadership in Australia and internationally.

Now, on the eve of Scotch's 150th anniversary, the Council has a bold new vision - a vision to be shared and enjoyed by present and future generations of Scotch Collegians, all members of the Scotch Family and the community.

Academy from the Main Oval

A substantial part of this vision is the commitment to provide a major complex for Music, Drama and Communication to inspire the widest development of boys at Scotch. To be known as The James Forbes Academy, it is the most ambitious project which the Council has undertaken since construction of the Chapel in the aftermath of the Great Depression, and one of the most significant ever by an Australian school.

The Council has made this decision with the confidence that the Scotch Family, with its record of great generosity, will respond to the challenge of a major capital campaign conducted by the Scotch College Foundation. The success of this campaign is fundamental to the fulfilment of this new and immensely exciting vision.
