The Scotch College Pipes and Drums marched in the Anzac Day Parade, as they have done for as many years as we can remember.
The band consisted of twenty-one pipers and eleven drummers, which is a very encouraging number for the years ahead.
The Scotch College Pipes and Drums won the prize as the Best Junior Band in the Parade.
The band will be receiving a wall plaque, awarded by the RSL, to commemorate the occasion. The 25 April was a superb day and, it was great to see a lot of younger people supporting the Anzac Day Parade.
Our own Military Band also participated in the march and they looked great in their red uniforms.
Once again Scotch was well represented at the 1999 Tip Top Australian Age Championship swimming carnival held in Hobart.
Those who met the exacting standards in qualifying for this event were Leonard Kong, Jaime Reyne, Robert Hunwick, Edward Holmes and Richard Gosper. This group was extremely successful, bringing home between them four Silver Medals (as representatives of State and Club relay teams) and one individual Bronze Medal.
This is an outstanding record for any school and is a fitting reward for the enthusiastic efforts of the boys.
In the final VCE exams last year ten Scotch boys received a perfect score of 50. Five of those boys earned a further distinction when they received a Premier's VCE Award. (Pictured l to r Hiroshi Miyazaki, Ross Geddes, The Premier, The Hon. Mr Jeff Kennett, Jonathan Evans and Toby Mullen).
