Forty eight eager little boys arrived at the Prep Unit proud wearers of their new Scotch Uniforms. They were carrying their bright red Scotch bags from which peeped various types of teddy bears - a little friend to keep them company on their first day at school.
When asked about his teddy, William Brack's answer reflected his pride in his new uniform and his enthusiasm about his school and learning.
William said, 'I needed to bring my teddy because he is going to learn with me and we are going to see Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood at Scotch. I am going to ask my grandma to knit my teddy a Scotch jumper.'
Further comments about the activities in which William was involved during his first day, demonstrated the enthusiasm of the young children of today, as they begin their journey through school.
'I loved the first day because we played on the computers and I like being at Scotch because there are lots of things to do. I played with the building blocks and I drew myself at the beach in my new Scotch uniform and I took it home to show mummy and daddy. I would like best of all to learn to write, but I can already use the computer.'
It was also interesting that William was already aware of the importance of mixing with a large group of boys with the following comment.
'There are lots of boys to make friends with. I learnt to share, because we need to share at school.'
This is a very mature comment from one so young and an excellent start to his education at Scotch. We wish William and all the new Prep students a very happy and successful first year and may strong foundations be laid for their further learning as they progress through thirteen exciting years at Scotch.
