School assembly on Wednesday 15 August, and at the invitation of the Principal, Dr Robin Stewardson accompanied by the school Vice Captain Mark Simpson, stepped off the platform and walked along the northern aisle of the Memorial Hall. He tugged a cord and a new honour board was unveiled. Spontaneous applause arose from the boys and staff.
The new honour board records the names of all those who have held the office of
Vice Captain of the School since its inception in 1912. In his introduction, the Principal outlined the background to the position of Vice Captain and mentioned some of the names who have held the office:
J D Burns,
E M Davidson,
FWW Scott,
C C McDonald,
A S Peacock and
R M Cowper.
It is a distinguished and select group of Scotch Collegians that have held this position and the school has decided to record and recognise the importance of the appointment.
Robin Stewardson was Vice Captain of the School in 1955 and has been a member of the Scotch College Council since 1995.
He was invited to represent all former Vice Captains, and after the unveiling he addressed the school. All former Vice Captains of Scotch are invited to inspect the honour board on their next visit to the College.
