Term Two was as busy as ever with numerous excursions, visiting speakers and performers, Chapel services, etc. Four in particular stood out.
Grandparents' Day on 18 May was an outstanding success, with over eighty grandparents and other special visitors sharing the morning with the Prep boys. The boys led their guests through a busy schedule of art, physical education, music and classroom activities before bidding them farewell and sending them off to enjoy a leisurely luncheon in the wonderful surroundings of the Boykett Room in the Cardinal Pavilion.
On 5 June, the Year 3 boys capped off a hectic round of intensive rehearsals with the annual Year 3 Concert. Families, friends and other invited guests were impressively entertained by the individual musical talents of Year 3 music students and were then treated to a combined music, drama and German production of Rolf's Liederkalendar, entirely in German!
Only a few days later, on 8 June, all boys in Prep to Year 3 participated in their annual 'Footy Day'. The event began with the presence of three high profile AFL players from the Richmond Football Club who spoke to the boys, answered questions and signed autographs, before spending some time interacting with the boys as they went through their various activities.
Prep boys were led through a football clinic by some of our very capable Year 6 boys. While the boys in Years 1 and 2 played a series of round robin matches within their year levels. These matches were ably umpired by a number of Year 6 boys. The Year 3 boys engaged in another round of their House Football competition, before joining all other Junior Primary boys for pies and sauce, cordial, and post match discussions.
For the very first time, Prep to Year 2 boys participated in the annual House Cross Country event, usually contested by the boys in Years 3 to 6 only. While they did not represent a House, the Prep to Year 2 boys nevertheless gave their very best - each one of them impressing the spectators with their determination to do well and to finish the modified course. The boys also cheered for the older boys and in the House chants.

Term 3 has commenced in its usual busy and entertaining manner for Year 6. Each Year 6 class has spent a week at the Year 6 campsite of Lake Nillahcootie, near Mansfield. All students who attended camp, found the many and varied activities interesting and demanding, whilst providing a high level of physical and mental challenge. The Year 6 camp builds on activities and skills learned from previous camping experiences, whilst encouraging the boys to maximise their levels of co-operation, teamwork, initiative and communication.
Boys enjoyed a variety of physical challenges, which included the climbing tower, abseiling, bouldering, low and high ropes courses, orienteering, hut construction and flying fox. Many of the Year 6 boys faced their challenges and anxieties head-on and were encouragingly surprised with their level of achievement and success. Co-operation and teamwork were required to keep the bonfire burning throughout the week and this provided a great focus and meeting place. Many boys have commented that the Lake Nillahcootie Camp has been their favourite camping experience. Most importantly, the camp food was delicious.
