Not every flood brings bad news. We would like to thank those Old Boys and families of Old Boys who have flooded us with responses to our 'Family Connections' survey.
We have already received more than 1300 replies! We have included another survey form in this edition of Great Scot, but this is only for Old Boys who have not already replied or those who have found even more family connections. It will probably take us a good twelve months to process the replies.
Many changes have taken place and are about to happen in the Archives. The smell of sea air has tempted the very hard working Bruce Symon to the Bellarine Peninsula and he will be in the Archives much less frequently this year.
I would like to thank Bruce for the help that he has given us over the last five years, which has done much to create not only a more complete database of students who have been at Scotch College, but also a record of references to mentions in the Collegian and Great Scot.
The museum will be closed for three months from 23 March to the end of July. Our premises at 2 Morrison Street will be undergoing extensions and a refit during this time, which will make them more suitable and effective in housing both the museum and the Archives, at least in the short term.
The last month will be spent unpacking, storing and setting up the museum, The Archives will continue on a restricted basis during this time
The help of members of the Lodge continues under the leadership of Keith Weymouth.
Prior to Christmas and even now they are packing literally hundreds of boxes of Collegians, Saturas, Great Scots, papers, photographs and artifacts for safe storage until the renovations are completed.
Finally I would express my appreciation of the commitment of Paul Mishura in extending and completing the database started by Bruce Symon.
