Co-Duxes of Scotch 1999

Adam Sher and John Strainge have completed outstanding academic careers at Scotch, both achieving the maximum ENTER score of 99.95. As a result, they are Co-Duxes of the Class of '99.

Adam's results were English - 47, Mathematical Methods - 50, Chemistry - 50, History (Revolutions) - 50, German - 50, Latin - 48, Specialist Mathematics - 46 and First Class Honours in University History. He was awarded a National Scholarship to study Commerce/Law at the University of Melbourne but chose to decline this to take up the offer to read Law at Oriel College Oxford.

It is worth noting that Adam completed a well rounded education at Scotch during Year 12, representing Scotch as Captain of Debating, School Prefect, in Winter Tennis and was also awarded full school colours for his work as a rugby official.

John Strainge

John Strainge achieved his 99.95 ENTER score through study scores of English -50, French - 50, Specialist Mathematics - 47, Mathematical Methods - 47, Chemistry - 46, Physics - 45 and Music - 37.

John was also heavily committed to the total educational program. He was a School Prefect, was awarded full school colours for Orienteering and played school Winter Tennis.

In music he was elected Vice Captain of Music playing in the Symphony Orchestra, the Senior Strings, and the PLC-Scotch Chamber Orchestra and a piano trio. He completed his AMusA in piano in 1995, his LMusA in piano in 1997 and AMusA in violin during Year 12.

John has chosen to study Veterinary Science at Melbourne University and has also been awarded a National Scholarship.
