Athletics dinner to celebrate 75 years

The Old Scotch Collegians'Athletic Club is marking its 75th anniversary with a special dinner to be held on 20 October 2001 at Queens Hall, Parliament House.

OSCAC is one of the oldest athletic clubs in Australia. It boasts a proud history of individual athletic brilliance and outstanding team success. All past and present members and their partners are invited to attend the dinner to celebrate this history.

Andrew Krummins Seating capacity in Queens Hall is limited to two hundred and so it will be essential to book early to avoid disappointment. Intending guests should cut out or photocopy the form below and send it to the specified address immediately to ensure that they receive an official invitation and booking slip. The expected cost per head to attend the dinner will be $75.00 for adults and $50.00 for full time students.

A special committee, comprising representatives from the 1950s to the present, is busy organising the dinner. The committee has promised a wonderful night, with an eminent guest speaker and the selection of the club's 'Team of the 20th Century'. How will the voting panel compare the great athletes of yesteryear with the young guns of today? Come to the dinner and find out!

Also in production is a written history of the club, which will update Colin Findlay's fifty year history, published in 1976. It is anticipated that this book will sell for around $20.00. In order to assist the club to determine the appropriate print run, it is asking all potential purchasers to express their interest on the form below, whether or not they intend coming to the anniversary dinner.

Meanwhile, back on the track, schoolboy Andrew Krumins, pictured above, has been the star of the summer, breaking club records in the 800m. Aged just seventeen, Andrew has recently clocked the remarkable time of 1:51.91.

The winter cross country season commences at Scotch on Sunday, 8 April 2001. As usual, the club is always on the lookout for new recruits, old or young, fast or slow. Call Mark Purvis (9534 5105) or Andrew Simm (9818 0900) for more details.
