At the time of writing, it is now four months since OSCAnet was launched. We have had a terrific response from many Old Boys who have found a wealth of information on the site relating to OSCA, Scotch, the Old Scotch Clubs and the many events that are listed on the site.
Mark O'Connor (Content Coordinator and OSCAnet technical guru) has been frantic in getting over 200 pages onto the site, as well as liaising with various Old Scotch groups to look at how the site can be used to the benefit of all.
Clearly, the most popular parts of the site, which is constantly developing to respond to the feedback from the Old Boys, include the ability to search for old friends and contact them, to find out about upcoming events details, the Mentoring Program, and the new sports results fixtures added within the last few days.
The OSCAnet office gets daily phone calls and emails from people who are delighted to be able to contact others they haven't seen in years. Many others are just happy to hear from the school after 20 or 30 years or more.
The success of the site depends on Old Boys being registered. To register, just click on "Not Registered Yet?" on the home page and email us the requested information, or ring us on 9810 4300 and we can register you over the phone! How easy is that?! Please encourage all other Old Boys you know to register.
The Mentoring Program is off to a flying start with around 20 Old Boys having gone through the program or currently in progress. The participants have been delighted with the experience, and the Program is running smoothly, thanks to the tremendous efforts of the Mentoring Committee, steered by Ross Johnston ('63) and Rick Aitchison ('58). Their experience, professionalism and generosity has given all Old Boys a truly remarkable tool utilizing the 'network' in a positive way for the benefit of all.
As we hear about OSCA events, they are posted in the events area of the site. We are currently developing an online booking facility to streamline the process for those who wish to take advantage of modern technology, as an adjunct to the more laborious traditional process.
The new sports results fixtures have been introduced in direct response to the many Old Boys who have inquired about the sports clubs. This is partly due to an increasing awareness of these clubs through their exposure on OSCAnet.
We are continuing to update the site with new information daily, and plans are afoot for improvements to enhance its features, for the benefit and convenience of all.
