Hamish Long ('85), pictured above, returned to residential real estate sales with Carmichael & Weber early in 2002. Having taken the opportunities that a career in hospitality affords and travelled extensively both within Australia and overseas, more recent studies in marketing and business management had led him back to his original career choice. His strong local knowledge and passion for excellence should serve him very well. Having just contributed to a record-smashing year under new leadership at Hawthorn he is delighted to be working for a well-respected and dynamic organisation. He confidently stated 'I am having the time of my life putting the wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom gained since leaving school to the test'. Naturally Hamish would be especially enthusiastic to assist Scotch Family members with real estate matters, he is most contactable on mobile 0422 233 333. In late November 2002 the next generation of doctors entered the hospital world. Graduating from Monash University two Rhodes' Scholars as well as seven Scotch Collegians - Low ('96), Hiller ('96), Snow ('95), Lording ('95), Simm ('96), Sutherland ('95) and Pasricha ('96) - joined with their Melbourne University Colleagues Hsu ('96), Hodgson ('96), Macpherson ('96), Metz ('96) and Mak ('96) at the Powerhouse on Albert Park Lake for a night of reminiscence and raillery. In early January the intrepid medicos took up Intern positions in hospitals across Melbourne with Alfred Hospital, in particular, being popular. The new six year course prides itself on opportunities for travel and working rotations across the world. Collectively they've amputated legs in the Guinean hill tribes, delivered babies in an Alaskan township, resuscitated shot policemen in Soweto and taught safe sex practices in the Cambodian outreaches. Not quite the same as Melbourne hospital medicine, but the group will be taking some substantial world experience with them into their new careers. Hamish Whitehead ('88) left boarding at School House to complete his secondary education at Geelong College under the guidance of Old Boys the Rev. Ian Parton and Bob Grant. Following this period, Hamish completed Commerce at Melbourne University and commenced with accountants KPMG. Graduating from audit he then joined Deutsche Morgan Grenfell as an Institutional Equities Dealer in their Melbourne Office. Later moving to Sydney with Deutsche Bank, Hamish continued trading domestic equities for institutions. Marrying Jacquie McDonald in October 2002, he then moved to London on contract with Deutsche Bank UK where he is now dealing in South East Asian equities. Hamish would like to hear from his contemporary Scotch Collegians when in London and can be contacted by email at hamish.whitehead@db.com Robert Padbury '02. For a young man who has just completed his VCE, Robert has achieved much recognition for his design of the OSCAnet logo, and the cover of the 2002 Collegian. He has also designed the new logos for the Old Scotch Clubs (formerly known as the Affiliated Societies). His winning entry in a photography competition for the Booroondara Council - '15 to 21: The Stuff That Surrounds Us' saw his photo published, and this success has helped develop his interest in computer-based graphic design. During the summer, Robert worked for us in the OSCA office, including rounding up many of his '02 buddies to register on OSCAnet. His efforts won the Class of '02 a pub night with free beer. So, you guys owe Rob a thank-you (venue and night to be advised). Other interests include drama and martial arts, having been involved in several School productions including 'The Madness of King George'. He also kicks butt in Pok Khek Kung Fu on a regular basis, having attained two gradings in two months, and finds time to walk the dog! OSCAnet has been a useful tool in enabling the network to help people like Robert reach out to find helpful contacts. While in New York, Rob is working on two short films, as well as an online exhibition (sneak preview at http://www.groovystudios.com/green.jpg ). The exhibition is a series of 20 images derived from different moves in martial arts and is titled 'The Art of War' (Sun Tzu would be proud!). Chris Legge ('74) was transferred to London three years ago, where he is now Managing Director Corporate Ratings for Standard and Poors. His wife Alison is working for her old legal firm of Linklaters and children William and Alexandra are thriving. Living in South Kensington means it is a convenient ride on the Tube to the office and they also take advantage of the proximity to Europe to get in the odd skiing or cycling trip to Switzerland or Austria as the mood takes them.
Chris tries to keep in touch with old boys in London including Peter Robinson; and he spoke in appreciative terms of the 2002 OSCA dinner. Duncan McGregor (School Council) is an old hockey team mate of Chris' and they took the opportunity to have dinner when Duncan was in London in December. Apart from reminiscing about past glories wielding the mulberry rather than the willow, the progress of the school was discussed at length as the intention is that William will attend in due course.

In 2003 James is doing his Honours year at ADFA. At Scotch James was an enthusiastic member of the cadet unit. In his final year he was a CUO in the Instructional Wing. Nick Montague ('86) has recently relocated back to Melbourne after a two year stint in Sydney where he headed up the logistics division of the Blue Star Print Group. Nick spent four years at Price Waterhouse after completing his Bachelor of Commerce at Melbourne University and was subsequently lured to The Craftsman Press in a finance role. The Craftsman Press was sold to the Blue Star Print Group in 1998 and Nick took on the role of Finance Manager before moving to Sydney in 2000. Nick is currently enjoying the pleasures of two recent additions to his family and is looking forward to seeing more of his beloved Bombers.
