The Tunbridge Cowper Cup was established in 1994 for Old Scotch Collegians and Old Geelong Grammarians who played club cricket but still wanted to represent their Old Schools.
Prior to this years game Geelong Grammar had won five matches and Scotch had won three.
Buoyed by our close win last year the Old Scotch team went into this years annual match with high hopes. Spirits weren't quite so high after we had been dismissed for a paltry 108 on a Main Oval wicket that looked true and good for batting. Only Matthew Gwynn ('94) (21) and Rob Ashton ('97) (15) showed any form.
A sharp rev up from the captain saw the Scotchies hit back hard after the lunch break and Geelong Grammar were never able to come to terms with the bowling of Mathew O'Brien ('96), Ben Milliken ('98), Rob Ashton (4/15) and Stuart Milliken('94).
The OGGS were bowled out for 52 and the Tunbridge Cowper Cup remains in the Scotch Trophy cabinet (well it would if we could find it!) for another year. Next years tenth match will be a real highlight on the sporting calendar and hopefully we will be able to even the ledger at five wins apiece.
