Marking the origins of ScotchAs part of the celebrations to commemorate Scotch College's 150th Year, a series of bronze wall plaques were created by Mr Mark Mason, a member of the Senior School Art Staff. The three panels commissioned, represent the establishment of Scotch in the inner city area of Melbourne, prior to the School moving to its present site in Hawthorn. The first panel commemorating the start of the School on the 6 October 1851, is situated in Spring Street opposite the Royal College of Surgeons. From there the School moved to 99 Spring Street, on the corner of Little Collins Street, where the School was based from 19 January 1852, to 1853. The bronze plaque is fixed to the front of the existing building, directly under Number 99. Mr Mason is pictured above right, standing beside the third panel placed at the Lansdowne Street site, where the College opened on 10 January 1854. These works are a permanent reminder of the School's early development, and are a credit to the artistic skill of a current staff member.
