Marvellous Mathematics from the Junior School

Maths Talent Quest Prize Winners

The Junior School has enjoyed immense success with its mathematics programme this year. Students from Years Four, Five and Six have achieved outstanding results which fully indicate the strength and breadth of the Junior School maths curriculum.

The Junior School is pleased to recognise the outstanding achievements of the students from Years Four, Five and Six, whilst individually acknowledging the following students:

Mathematics Talent Quest

State Awards: Luke Dawson (Maths for a Maths Garden) and Kane Walker (The Mathematics of building and piloting a Hovercraft).

Prizes: Jack Naughton (An Eggcellent study), Thomas Matthews (What does the water bill mean!), Nicholas Watson (Maths is getting Hot) and Rama Lokon (Operation Pyramid-A Bob the Beetle Adventure).

As a result of this fine effort Scotch College Junior School received an Honourable Mention Award for their winning entries in this year's competition.

Maths Olympiads for Primary Schools

The SCJS team A came in the top 10 % of the 725 teams entered from schools around Australia and New Zealand. 19,798 students participated in this competition. SCJS had 11 boys represented in the top 10% of participating students, along with another 6 in the top 30%.

Congratulations to all boys who represented the school with such distinction, and we look forward to encouraging results in 2003.
