The wonderful Whitsundays was the venue for the recent reunion of class of '57 friends Bob Kent ('57), Ken Hume ('56) and Ben Hosking ('56). They and their respective wives Kay, Ann and Kris spent a week together at Cannonvale and Hayman Island.
Bob Kent moved to Northern Queensland in the late 1980s from Ballarat and has been heavily involved in their tourism industry ever since. He is currently the Skipper of the Reef Goddess, the Hayman Island dive boat which conducts trips to the Outer Reef and Whitsunday Islands.
The highlight for the group was the cruise on his boat from Hayman Island to the famous Whitehaven beach (see picture). Bob extends a warm welcome to all members of the Scotch Family to join him on a Reef Goddess cruise from Hayman. It was a very nostalgic return to Hayman Island for Ken and Ann Hume who had spent their honeymoon there (both Bob and Ben were in their wedding party).
Ken Hume has retired from his engineering business Humetal and is currently involved in a development of new beach houses at "Debonair" Anglesea. Ben Hosking is doing some part time business advisory and financial work with several organisations. He also continues to be involved with Communicators Melbourne with his partner Don Kinsey, conducting workshops and courses in effective speaking and business presentation.
