50 year reunion

On Friday 22nd November, 104 Old Boys assembled at the Cardinal Pavilion for a night of renewing old friendships from school years.

The walls were decked with photographs and other memorabilia depicting highlights from the 1952 school year. Ralph Morris, Captain of the School in 1952, was Chairman and Master of Ceremonies.

Ross Bradfield, in proposing the toast to the school, reminisced about his school years, paying special tribute to the masters and teaching staff of the era. In responding to the toast, the Principal Dr Gordon Donaldson, highlighted the major developments currently being undertaken at the school and the major challenges which will face the school in the near future.

Special guests attending were Dr Gordon Donaldson, Vice Principal Ian Savage, former masters Ron Bond, Peter Chapman, Alec Lyne, Dr Bernard Mendel and David Scott, with Rob Logie-Smith and Tim Shearer representing OSCA.

Ross Campbell was piper for the Haggis Ceremony which was conducted by Don Laird who delivered a fine "Ode to the Haggis".

John Mallinson provided the musical accompaniment for some hearty singing of school songs and a fine rendition of "Landerkennung".

A special vote of thanks to Ian Savage and Tim Shearer for the informative tour of the school which was attended by some 50 or more old boys keen to learn about the new developments at the school.

The success of the night reflected the very hard work undertaken by Brian Hawdon with support from other members of his committee - Ross Bradfield, Tony Gregory, Colin Melville, Ralph Morris, Graham Sellars-Jones, Nada Peacock, Leanne Craven and the OSCA staff.
