Big 2003 for Cardinal Club

With members of both the Scotch College Boat Club and Cardinal Club down to the serious end of training in preparation for the 2003 season, the Cardinal Club Committee is equally hard at work with preparations for the Celebratory 21st Dinner to be held Saturday March 29, 2003 at Albert by the Lake.

This evening promises to be a very special event. The contribution of Don Macmillan to rowing at Scotch will be formally acknowledged, and it is hoped that those who coached with Don, his many friends and those who rowed in his crews will come along.

Also this night will see the unveiling of the Scotch College Australian Rowing Honour Board. So if you are an Old Collegian who represented Australia in the sport of rowing, and haven't yet received a letter regarding the Honour Board, please contact President Bob Welch ('66).

Whilst some illustrious rowing history will be featured at this dinner, it must be remembered there will be one week to go before the 2003 Head of the River. It is hoped the 1st VIII, which will be presented to those in attendance, will draw inspiration from the impressive list of past crews and individual oarsmen who have indicated their intent to attend. Add to that the enthusiastic group of parents, who no doubt will be at Nagambie to cheer on the crews, and I'm sure the 1st VIII will take away the strong spirit that will be supporting them all the way.

A select five items will be auctioned on the night, including a Scotch oar, with some other attractive items being assembled for a Silent Auction. Proceeds will support rowing at Scotch, including a contribution to crew travel for the 2003 Nationals and the planned trip to Henley in 2003.

Parents, friends and Old Collegians are warmly invited to make up a table (10) or come individually. Tickets will be $90 per person all inclusive, less to Cardinal Club members.
