Another busy year for the Old Scotch Lodge draws to a close under the direction of our Master Rob Brelaz ('49) and his Team. Some of the highlights included the welcoming of Warren Peacock ('72) as a new member at the September meeting; the Trivia Night with our ladies and friends at the August meeting: John Bell was Trivia Master with more than 100 in attendance; and the presentation by our in-house players at the July meeting of The Man From Ironbark under the direction of Keith Weymouth.
Social activities have included a country BBQ at Farmer Brelaz's estate at Nilmah North; a picnic day at the Yarra Glen Races; our annual film night at Scotch to see Some Like it Hot, starring Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe, which raised about $850 for charity; a golf/bowls dinner at Riversdale Golf Club; and a Progressive Dinner.
The Master's last night in October was an opportunity to display the Team's ritual excellence and to say a big "thank you" to Rob Brelaz for his enthusiasm and efforts under some difficulties during his year.
The new Master, Graeme Weber ('64) was installed on 7 November by an 'in-house' Team of Past Masters led by Steve Latimer ('71). This was an excellent ceremony and Graeme has 'picked up the gavel' with great enthusiasm and is looking to inject further (youthful) vigour into the Lodge. A highlight planned for March 2003 is a long weekend visit to Walhalla Lodge and a tour of the surrounding places of historical interest.
The Lodge meets in the Camberwell Masonic Centre on the first Thursday of each month (except January). Interested Old Boys please contact the Secretary: Bill Cameron, phone/fax 9429 6164.
