Cricket season is here again and the Old Scotch Cricket Club is looking to return to the finals. In the off-season, Al Jones ('86) stood down as president and Gary Bennett ('88) was voted in as the new president. Don Parton ('89) stood down as the captain of the Reds after three seasons, with Gary Bennett taking up this position. Don McLennan ('95) has returned from working overseas to resume his role as captain of the Blues.
During Easter 2002 the club hosted the Sydney Scots who this year won both games to win the 'Ashes'. As usual the weekend was extremely successful with all enjoying good cricket and good company. Next year Scotch will head north for the 50th Easter between the two schools which holds great excitement for all. If you are interested in attending, please contact OSCA.
Training is held every Thursday throughout the season on the Rugby oval from 5:30 pm onwards. The official season has begun with both teams playing games against Caulfield in the first round. Neither managed to secure victories but it was encouraging to see new players join the club for season 2002/2003. The club is always keen for new players and welcomes anybody in the Scotch community to attend training on Thursdays.
This year the Reds-Blues match will be played on December 14 and 21 on the Main Oval at the school. This is a break from the traditional one-day format of the game.
