Flag Party at the chapel steps |
Following months of preparation, the Cadet Unit was ready to parade before an audience of thousands on a magnificent very warm and dry summer's night. The standard of dress, drill and bearing of all members of the unit and the musical talent and teamwork of the Military and Pipe Bands was excellent.
MAJGEN David J McLachlan AO, Victorian State President, Returned and Services League, reviewed the Parade. He was very impressed with all aspects of the occasion; MAJGEN McLachlan inspected the unit, presented awards and addressed the parade. He reminded us all of the impressive role models that have generated from Scotch College and encouraged and congratulated the cadets on their presentation of the Tattoo.
The Tattoo displays teamwork, organisation, skill and self-discipline on a large scale, with a quarter of the school involved. It accommodates elements of remembrance and celebration, recognising the service of all departing members of the unit, particularly the Year 12 Cadets.
The Tattoo requires contributions from a variety of aspects of the school's operation. As always, the Grounds and Maintenance Departments deserve congratulation for presenting the Main Oval in such a magnificent condition. Special thanks to all Cadets, distinguished guest MAJGEN McLachlan and MAJ Bain, Parade Director, for tireless and persistent effort in making the Tattoo such a spectacular event.
